4worldlovers: The Pottery Lab is a community space I set up in 2015. The idea was to create a safe space where the arts and crafts are accessible to the community through a format that is the right mix of fun and structure.

We are located at Pali hill, Bandra-W, Mumbai. The sessions are taught by my colleague from JJ’s – Vinay Patankar and myself.

The beginner’s course introduces you to all the basics of ceramics:

The course module is made up of 8 sessions of 2 hours each

The fee for one module of 8 sessions is Rs.17,700 inclusive of materials and firing of 3 objects

For each module of 8 sessions, you get 1 bag of clay. Extra clay can be purchased if needed, The charge is Rs.400 for a 5 kg bag

In the advanced levels, students focus on a project that is either theme based or technique based

Clay and firing of objects is not included in the fee

Firing is charged at Rs.400 per piece. The firing is done only after the payment is cleared

You can try and come in for a double session on one of your class days to cover up. We can do this for a maximum of one session.

We prefer not to as the teachers for different batches are different and every teacher has his/her own style of teaching! Both the teachers are alumni of Sir J J School of Art, with a degree in Fine Art and a specialisation in Ceramics – myself and Vinay Patankar.

Can I register for the weekend batch and attend only Sundays?

At the moment our course is not structured for a once a week only format, so you would have to attend on both Saturdays and Sundays.

I am an absolute beginner, will I be able to do this?

Yes, the beginner’s course is designed even for those who have never indulged in any form of art or craft. You may not create masterpieces but you will end up surprising yourself!

We register 4 to 5 students in a batch. The students are of mixed levels in a batch.

The Studio founded in 2009 by Neha Ramaiya,Neha has completed her Bachelor's from Sir. J. J. School of Art, Mumbai and her Master's in Ceramic and Glass Design from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India.
